Local Festivities with Ilford Delta 3200

Celebrating religion is something very comon in Portugal.Events such as pilgrimages, and processions are quite frequent an in large number throughout the country. It is especially at Easter the the so-called “local festivities” are held in the cities, towns ans villages of the country in honour of the saint on the area.

At this time, especially in the smaller villages, these religious celebrations are the reason to join the family and also for a temporary return of immigrants to their country of origin.

In the middle of April we took a trip to the homeland of our father, Moitas, in the municipality of Proença-a-Nova , to spend the weekend there and see family and friends again.At this time, as I described above, there is a festivity in praise of S. Gens, the patron sain here of the zone.During the day there are several distractions like the traditional games (malha, nail game) and some card game tournaments.All this accompanied with good drinks and local gastronomy.For those who like to dance there is always a small prom at the beggining of the night with good traditional portuguese music.

For this ocasion I took with me a B&W film that did not disappoint me in low light environments.That´s why i brought the Ilford Delta 3200 that i had at home.

Celebrar a religião é algo muito comum em Portugal.Eventos como romarias e peregrinações são bastante frequentes e em grande número por todo o país.É sobretudo na Páscoa que se realizam também pelas cidades, vilas e aldeias as chamadas “festividades locais” em honra do Santo Padroeiro da zona.

Nesta altura, principalmente nos meios mais pequenos, estas celebrações religiosas são motivo para juntar a família e também para um regresso temporário de imigrantes ao seu país de origem.

Em meados de Abril aproveitámos uma ida á terra natal do nosso pai, Moitas, no concelho de Proença-a-Nova para passar por lá o fim de semana e voltar a ver família e amigos.Nesta altura, como acima descrevi, é celebrada uma festa em louvou a S.Gens, o padroeiro da zona. Durante o dia existem distracções como jogos tradicionais (malha, jogo do prego), e torneios de cartas.Tudo isto acompanhado por boa bebida e gatronomia local.Para aqueles que gostam de dançar há sempre o baile ao início da noite com boa música tradicional portuguesa.

Para esta ocasião levei comigo uma película P&B que não me decepcionasse em ambientes com pouca luz .Por isso trouxe o Ilford Delta 3200 que tinha lá por casa.
