Sara and Gonçalo. Two brothers, twins.
A boy and a girl.
The same age, forever. Only 2 minutes difference.
The photography thing began in the same way for both, a few years ago in the high school.
For Sara it became more serious when she decided to make a living from it.
For Gonçalo it was different because he was a little lost and only recently photography crossed again in his path. How? Maybe when Sara has gave him her first digital camera, her companion in the long path of her degree, where she studied about all kinds of photography, from alternative processes from the old days to the digital era.
Some time has passed and with it came the experience. Maybe proportional to the number of cameras that Gonçalo already offered to Sara, every year on their birthday. And well, there’s been a few of them.
Now more seriously, why the analog?
Perhaps for not giving chance for mistakes, force to think a little more on framing and not to fail the photometry. This calms you down when having your finger on the shutter button.
There are 36 frames at a time and is the waiting time for the developing plus the expectation when scanning the negatives that makes this really funny. And also the variety of existing films makes everything more special because despite the evolution of digital photography, its almost impossible to reproduce them on a computer properly.
In our case the will to experiment has a common denominator, the Praktica MTL5B from our father. Along the way came an Diana F+, a Flexaret Automat VI (medium format couldn’t be missed) and a couple of Canon EOS 300.
After a few rolls we thought it might be time for our experiments with analog photography cease from being virtually confidential. With this blog we intend to share our daily lives in film results of experiences with the most varied films, in a record also of continuous learning.

Estes somos nós.
Sara e Gonçalo.Dois irmãos,gémeos.
Um rapaz e uma rapariga.
A mesma idade para sempre. Só 2 minutos de diferença.
Isto da fotografia começou de maneira igual para os dois, há alguns anos no secundário.
Para a Sara ficou mais sério quando decidiu que era o que queria fazer da vida a tempo inteiro.
Para o Gonçalo foi diferente pois andou meio perdido e só recentemente a fotografia se cruzou de novo no seu caminho.Como? Talvez quando a Sara lhe deu a sua primeira máquina digital ,companheira no longo caminho da sua licenciatura , em que estudou um pouco sobre todo o tipo de fotografia, desde processos alternativos que se practicavam no antigamente até á era do digital.
Já lá vai algum tempo e com este veio a experiência .Talvez proporcional ao número de máquinas que o Gonçalo já ofereceu á Sara ,todos os anos no aniversário de ambos. E olhem que já foram algumas…
Agora mais a sério, porquê o analógico?
Talvez por não dar espaço ao erro,obrigar a pensar um pouco mais no enquadramento e não falhar a fotometria. Assim se acalmam os ânimos quando se tem o dedo no botão de disparo.
São 36 fotogramas de cada vez e são a espera pela revelação mais a expectativa quando se digitalizam os negativos que dão piada a tudo isto. E também a variedade de películas existentes torna tudo mais especial porque por mais que a edição de fotografia digital evolua não as conseguem reproduzir em computador.
No nosso caso a vontade de experimentar tem origem um denominador comum , a Praktica MTL5B do nosso pai.Pelo caminho vieram uma diana F+, uma Flexaret Automat VI (o médio formato não poderia faltar) e um par de Canon Eos 300.
Após alguns rolos pensámos que talvez seria a altura de as nossas experiências com a fotografia analógica deixassem de ser practicamente confidenciais. Com este Blog pretendemos partilhar o nosso quotidiano em filme e o resultado de experiências com as mais variadas películas, num registo também de aprendizagem contínua. Todo o feedback é bem vindo.
